EUHA Congress to spotlight Bettear’s innovative Auracast technology for multi-channel listening
Dual stream Auracast will be showcased in Germany next week as audiologists from across the world come together for three days of learning, sharing and innovation.
The European Union of Hearing Aid Acousticians (EUHA) is holding its International Congress of Hearing Aid Acousticians in Nuremberg. The annual event is an opportunity for audiologists, scientists and laymen who have an interest in hearing care to come together and learn.
There is a full lecture programme across the three days, as well as a large exhibition area.
Founded in 1960, the EUHA welcomes professionals in hearing protection, prevention, improvement, rehabilitation, and research who seek to refresh, update, and enhance their skills and knowledge.
The three-day event runs from Wednesday, 22 October, through to Friday, 24 October, in Hall 7 of the Nürnberg Messe.
EUHA President Beate Gromke wants hearing aid acousticians to attend the event: “Make it possible for your trainees to attend the congress and give the next generation a glimpse into the future of our industry! Make #EUHA2025 a team event for your company.”
EUHA welcomes Auracast with practical demonstrations
There are more than 25 lectures and five training sessions running across all three days.
Wednesday is devoted to hearing research, Thursday is application, and Friday is the future.
Dr. Markus Peifer heads the Organisation and Legal Department at the Zentralverband des Deutschen Handwerks (ZDH) and will give the keynote address that launches the Congress. This takes place from 11.30am on Wednesday and is entitled Is Politics Listening To The Skilled Trades? – Taking Stock Of The First Months Of Government.
Beate Gromke said: “I am very proud that an important figure in the skilled crafts sector is coming to the EUHA Congress in Nuremberg.
“This underlines the relevance of our craft and its importance for the future.
“In the keynote speech, we will receive first-hand information, and we cordially invite all congress participants to attend.”
Aurahear is delighted that Friday is devoted to lectures on the future of audiology and includes a session on Auracast.
Yaser Georgos, from GN Hearing, and Beat Graf, from Pro Audito Switzerland, will be leading a practical workshop called Auracast – Opportunities And Challenges For Hearing Care Professionals from 9.30am to 11am. This takes place in the Hong Kong Room.
This training will help audiologists learn more about the system and the setup, and give training to show how straightforward Auracast is to use.
Participants will gain a thorough overview of the technical basics and the wide range of applications for Auracast. Concrete examples and live demonstrations will illustrate how Auracast works in different environments and what challenges may arise.
In some ways it would have been good to have this session as the very first one on the opening day because all sessions will be Auracast using Bettear’s system. And it is not just an Auracast: as EUHA takes place in Germany, sessions will be in German. Given that people come from across Europe, a second language is needed, and this is where Auracast can showcase one of its biggest strengths.
EUHA says all lectures will be offered as a silent system, where listeners will wear headphones or receivers, and there are two Auracast channels to listen to: one in German and the other in English.
We have previously written about how professional-grade Auracast systems like Bettear’s can offer multiple audio channels, allowing people to listen to audio descriptions, translations, and different sports games, depending on the setting. Showcasing this to EUHA attendees is an exciting step, as it will turn theory into reality in an easily understandable way.
There is more to EUHA than talking
A large exhibition space will allow hearing companies, including GN ReSound, Starkey, Oticon, Widex, Phonak, and Signia, to showcase their latest products.
Other exhibitors will be sharing some of their ranges and showing what will be made available in the coming months. They include Sennheiser, Listen Technologies, Deafmetal, Geemarc Telecom, and Humantechnik.
On Thursday evening, there will be a party based on the theme Rockin’ With Amadeus, in reference to the Austrian musician Falco and the partner country Austria.
There are also special tours for trainees, school pupils and students on Thursday and Friday.
And Aurahear will be going to EUHA
As regular readers will have realised, we are very passionate about Auracast and its potential. It will truly revolutionise assistive listening experiences wherever it is installed.
Having the opportunity to meet with manufacturers and audiology experts means we will have a better understanding of what the future holds for Auracast.
We will provide regular updates from our visit.
If you see us, come and say hello.
How can I learn more about EUHA and obtain tickets?
It should come as little surprise that EUHA has a multi-lingual website, offering information in both German and English.
This details all the information people need to know about the event and how to get tickets, which are available on a daily basis or for all three days.
The EUHA website also warns that the only place to buy tickets for the event is from its website: there are several websites offering third-party booking, but these could be scammers. Indeed, we were nearly taken in by such a website, as it was the first link we found on Google.
EUHA states that it “does not cooperate with external ‘housing brokers’ or third-party booking agents. Do not make any payments to unverified providers” and asks people to report any suspicious messages they may have.
For more information, or to book tickets, visit the official website at: http://euha.org/en
The website also contains links to the programme and floor plans.
