Sennheiser is releasing some new Auracast-enabled TV technology in February, and we are excited.
When it comes to television, you can’t beat a good double act: Morecambe and Wise, Hale and Pace, Little and Large … and now the Sennheiser RS 275 TV Headphones and BTA1 TV Transmitter.
The company says the two items come as a bundle that will allow people to enjoy their favourite movies, shows and sports in wireless bliss, thanks to a volume that is always perfect.
It utilises Auracast to transmit and promises a range of up to 50 metres. Sennheiser says it has an ultra-low latency for sound and picture synchronisation.
And it doesn’t just use Auracast: the RS 275 TV Headphones can connect to Bluetooth Classic devices, including tablets and smartphones.
They are intended for long-term wear, with Sennheiser promising a feather-light feel, supple cushions that keep ears cool, and a breathable fabric for a tailor-made fit. They can be replaced when needed.
Textured buttons make it easy to adjust volume, power and incoming calls, while a single charge will power up to 50 hours of listening.
“As screens continue to get thinner, their speakers have to follow, making it harder than ever to enjoy full-range sound without disturbing others,” said Irene Strueber, Sennheiser’s senior product manager.
“The RS 275 TV Headphones unlock total listening privacy and impressive clarity, whether your TV’s built-in speakers are underwhelming you, or overpowering everyone else.”

The headphones are quick to set up, and can be controlled via the Sennheiser Smart Control phone app, which is available for both Android and iPhone users. It contains options to adjust left-right balance, hearing profiles and audio modes, depending on the device being used. It can also be used to locate lost headphones.
A stand can be bought to place the headphones on when not in use.
Sennheiser says this means the headphones can be used in all kinds of settings, including in the home and the classroom.

Irene added: “It was important to make the setup and user experience simple so customers could get to listening immediately. In addition to the headphones being pre-linked to the transmitter out of the box, everything you need to connect is conveniently colour-coded.
“And for those that want to truly make the audio experience their own, the Smart Control Plus app goes even deeper with intuitive personalisation from the smartphone already in their pocket.”
Pair the headphones with the Sennheiser BTA1 Auracast-enabled TV transmitter for the new double act
We promised a double act, and here it is: the Sennheiser RS 275 headphones will pair with the Sennheiser BTA1 TV Transmitter, and it is an Auracaster.
This is exciting.
We haven’t been able to try it yet, but the company promises that it will Auracast to headphones, earbuds, hearing aids, and loudspeakers – meaning it should transmit at the 24,000Khz frequency hearing aids need.
Sennheiser says buttons provide manual switching of inputs and sound modes, including virtual surround sound and enhanced speech clarity when using TV or HDMI ARC sources.
On the back, there is a USB-C power input that plugs into the television’s USB-A socket, and a 3.5mm input that supports TOSLINK/Digital Audio via a supplied adapter cable (3.5mm into the device, TOSLINK from the television).
HDMI ARC input expands the possibilities to TVs and A/V receivers, using the port to output sound from built-in apps or services.
And it can be controlled via the smartphone app. Features include auto-input switching and video delay compensation, while overseeing Auracast settings such as broadcast name, password protection, and hearing aid modes.
The BTA1 can provide a charge for the RS 275 headphones via another USB-C port, and it is designed to sit on the headphone stand.
When does the Sennheiser RS 275 TV headphones and the BTA1 Auracast TV Transmitter go on sale and how much will it be?
The RS 275 TV Headphones bundle will be available for pre-order on February 3rd, 2026 at an MSRP of £219.99 from authorised dealers and from sennheiser-hearing.com.
Simultaneously, the BTA1 TV Transmitter will be available for standalone purchase at an MSRP of £114.99.
This system will also be available without a headphone stand as a retail exclusive, sold as the RS 255 TV Headphones.
All models will begin shipping on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
